And some positive self-esteem. It's hard to trust your intuition if you have a negative view of yourself. After all, you don't really trust people that you don't like. That was really the hardest hurdle for me to overcome, and one that I still struggle with. Of course, I've also been at this for longer than you've been alive *grins*. I use them as a general guide, but my gut intuition is what tells me if that is on the right track or not. The Tarot is a good tool for guiding your intuition as well as for personal introspection. To me, they are more a tool for understanding myself and what's going on in my life (or the life of the person I'm doing the reading for), than for divinatory purposes. Because of my memory problems, I have trouble remembering all of the cards, so I mostly do readings only for myself or family, or for folks on-line, where it doesn't matter if I have to stop and look things up.
