I found this image on another site, and I absolutely love it.  The author doesn’t know where she found it.  Anyone recoqnize it and know the artist?

I seriously want this statue or one like it.  I mean seriously.

Someday in my copious spare time I want to learn to sculpt.

I don’t know this statue specifically, but it reminds me of the Venus of Willendorf, one of the earliest fertility “goddesses” – carved around 23,000 BCE. That might be a starting point for your research. Good luck!

Lauren – exactly, that’s one of the things I loved about it, it reminded me of the Venus.

Arwen – thanks for that link. Carolyn Whitehorn has several pieces that I really love. I don’t think it’s the same artist, but I really love her work. I hadn’t seen it before.

What I particularly love about this piece is that there is such a calm, assertive, confident air to a fat woman. I aspire to be the woman in this statue.

Maritzia, i’m just getting the little red x instead of the picture, but if you can email it to me, i can tell you for sure if it’s Carolyn’s work.
    good luck, Jade
